About Us

Little Oaks Academy provides quality care for children 6 weeks to 5 years where from little acorns, mighty oaks do grow!

Little Oaks Academy is a public non-profit organization, which means a Board of Directors governs the Academy. We believe this organizational structure has the advantage of a formal decision-making process informed by the collective expertise of parents, community volunteers, and staff representatives.

We offer:

• Extended AM/PM hours
• Open hours during typical inclement weather school closures
• A hands-on, evidence-based curriculum
• Structured, planned environments with flexibility for individualization
• Educators with B.S./B.A., AA, CDA or TECTA credentials in each classroom
• Breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack included
• Accommodation for special dietary restrictions
• A secure facility with coded access
• After-hours family activities
• Open-door policy
• An environment where breastfeeding is welcome
• Three large modern outdoor playgrounds
• Children’s community garden
• Parent-led Board of Directors

Little Oaks Academy was established in 2014 and officially opened on June 15 of 2015.  While Little Oaks Academy was recently established as a public non-profit, we trace our roots back to 1967, when the Sisters of Mercy at St. Mary’s Medical Center opened a child care program for hospital employees’ children. While no longer owned or operated by or affiliated with what is now Tennova/Physicians Regional Medical Center, they remain our good neighbors.
