Curriculum at LOA

Our philosophy is that every child is an individual and has unique needs. It is our task and mission to provide a safe, comfortable environment which allows each child to explore and learn, and to develop confidence, self-discipline, and a positive self-image.

Our approach to curriculum

Curriculum Planning

Our well-trained educators create developmentally appropriate weekly lesson plans that meet the unique needs and interests of their classroom. Curriculum domains include language and literacy, mathematical thinking, social and emotional development, physical development, and scientific thinking. These developmental domains are explored through play, art, music, fine & gross motor development, sensory activities, and exploration of the natural world.

Creative Curriculum Program

The evidence-based Creative Curriculum is incorporated into lesson plans to further the learning of our students. The Creative Curriculum® is an early childhood curriculum that focuses on project-based investigations as a means for children to apply skills and addresses four areas of development: social/emotional, physical, cognitive, and language. This curriculum is designed to foster development of the whole child through teacher-led, small and large group activities centered around interest areas including blocks, dramatic play, manipulatives, reading/books, sensory discovery, music and movement, math/science, art, and outdoors. Small group interest areas allow each child to be the recipient of individualized instruction. The philosophy behind this curriculum is that young children learn best by doing.
